Blackwell Island Campground
A primitive 12-site campground on a wooded island in the Susquehanna River, accessible only by boat or wading during late summer low water. Sites are scattered through mature riverside forest with fire rings and basic amenities but no potable water — bring your own or filter from the river. The isolation makes this a unique base camp for paddlers and anglers targeting smallmouth bass and musky.
Access during normal water levels requires a canoe, kayak, or shallow-draft boat. In late summer and fall, adventurous overlanders sometimes wade or drive across shallow channels, but this depends entirely on river conditions. The campground operates seasonally and can flood during spring runoff. Absolutely no cell service.
