Ballycroy National Park Visitor Centre

Trailhead

The visitor centre serves as the primary access point into 11,000 hectares of untouched bog and mountain wilderness. Well-maintained trails lead from the car park into the Nephin Beg Range, including the challenging Bangor Trail that connects to remote mountain peaks. Information boards detail the unique ecosystem and weather warnings for the exposed uplands.

Located on the N59 between Ballina and Westport, the centre provides maps and current trail conditions. Facilities close in winter months, but trail access remains open year-round for experienced hikers. Weather changes fast in this exposed terrain – check conditions before heading out.

Gateway to Ireland's largest wilderness area.
