Mourne Wall Trail Head Bloody Bridge
The small car park at Bloody Bridge marks the traditional start of the Mourne Wall walk, a 22-mile circuit that crosses all 15 major Mourne peaks including Slieve Donard. The trail follows the distinctive dry-stone wall built between 1904-1922 to enclose the Silent Valley reservoir watershed. Well-defined path initially, becoming more challenging as you gain elevation across exposed granite terrain. Popular with serious hikers and peak-baggers.
Parking for about 20 vehicles on a gravel area beside the Annalong River. The bridge itself dates to the 18th century and offers a photogenic start to your mountain adventure. Summer weekends see heavy use, so arrive early. The full wall circuit is a serious undertaking — most day hikers turn back at Slieve Donard’s summit.
