Frank Gross Campground
Tucked into the Chattahoochee National Forest along Lake Chatuge’s north shore, Frank Gross feels more like dispersed camping than a developed campground. Fourteen sites scattered through mixed hardwoods, each with a fire ring and picnic table, but no hookups or running water. The pit toilets are clean enough, and you’re 50 yards from the lake. Most sites can handle larger rigs, though a few are better suited for smaller setups.
Access is via a well-maintained gravel road that branches off GA-76 east of Hiawassee. It’s the perfect base camp for hitting the Forest Road 77 routes around Warwoman Creek or exploring the Chattooga Wild and Scenic corridors. Fills up on summer weekends, but midweek you’ll often have the place to yourself.
