Cohutta Wilderness Jacks River Trailhead

Trailhead

End-of-road trailhead sits at 2,040 feet where Forest Road 16 dead-ends after 8 miles of gravel. Small parking area holds maybe 15 vehicles — fills fast on weekends during hiking season. Basic pit toilet and trail register, no water. Trailhead for the 16-mile Jacks River Falls trail and multiple wilderness loops.

Forest Road 16 is maintained gravel but gets rough after heavy rain — high-clearance recommended though not required. Gate closes periodically for maintenance. Check with Cohutta Ranger District before making the drive in wet conditions.
