Cherokee National Forest Ocoee River Gorge Dispersed Sites
Well-established dispersed sites scattered along Forest Road 45 near the Ocoee River’s famous whitewater section. Most sites sit on terraces above the river with space for 1-3 vehicles and established fire rings. The constant sound of rapids masks any road noise, and you’ll watch commercial rafting trips bounce through the Class III-IV rapids all day during summer. Sites fill fast on weekends during peak rafting season.
Easy access on maintained gravel road, any vehicle can make it. Peak season brings crowds – arrive early Friday or consider weekdays. Fire restrictions often in effect during dry spells. Several sites have unofficial picnic tables built by previous campers.
