Brasstown Bald Visitor Center
Brasstown Bald crowns Georgia at 4,784 feet, offering 360-degree views that stretch across Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina on clear days. A paved half-mile trail leads from the parking area to the summit observation deck and visitor center, though the grade is steep enough to wind most folks. The visitor center houses exhibits on Southern Appalachian ecology and a small gift shop.
The access road climbs steadily for 3 miles from Highway 180, with a few tight switchbacks that longer RVs should approach carefully. Winter closures are possible during ice storms, and summer weekends see heavy traffic. Early morning visits offer the best visibility and fewer crowds, with sunrise painting the Blue Ridge in layers of purple and gold.
