Antelope Canyon Slot Canyon
Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon are two separate slot canyons on Navajo Nation land near Page, Arizona. These narrow passages through Navajo sandstone create cathedral-like chambers where sunlight filters down in dramatic beams, especially during midday hours. The smooth, wave-like walls glow in shades of orange, purple, and gold. Both sections require paid guided tours — no independent exploration allowed.
Access is only through authorized Navajo tour operators from Highway 98. Upper Antelope is more accessible (ground level entry) while Lower requires climbing metal ladders. Tours book out weeks or months in advance during peak season. Flash flood danger means canyons close during any threat of rain in the drainage area.
