Sand Flats Recreation Area Dispersed Camping
This sprawling BLM area offers dozens of dispersed camping spots scattered across sandy flats and slickrock benches. Sites range from pull-throughs for big rigs to tucked-away spots for privacy seekers. Most have fire rings built by previous campers, and the views stretch from the La Sals to Arches National Park. Gets busy during peak season but there’s usually space somewhere.
Access is via Sand Flats Road — paved for the first few miles, then maintained dirt. No services, so bring water and pack out trash. Open year-round but summer can be brutally hot. Popular with rock crawlers heading to Hell’s Revenge and Fins ‘N Things.
