Courthouse Wash BLM Dispersed Area
This BLM dispersed camping area stretches along Highway 279 (Potash Road) between Moab and the Colorado River, offering dozens of informal sites scattered among cottonwoods and red rock formations. Sites range from river-level spots perfect for kayak launches to elevated terraces with panoramic views of the La Sal Mountains. Most sites can handle big rigs, though the best river access requires high-clearance vehicles.
Access is directly off the paved highway with short dirt spurs to individual sites. Popular with rafters and climbers year-round, so weekend competition can be fierce. No facilities whatsoever — pack out everything. Fire restrictions typically apply May through September.
