Copper Falls State Park
Established Campground
The Bad River drops through a series of cascades and pools carved from billion-year-old lava flows, with copper deposits staining the rock green and orange. The park’s campground has 55 sites tucked into mature hardwood forest, with vault toilets and hand-pump wells. Sites are well-spaced and can handle medium-sized RVs, though some loops have tighter turns.
Located 2 miles north of Mellen on Highway 169, the park sees fewer crowds than southern Wisconsin destinations. The falls trail is a 1.7-mile loop over footbridges and rocky terrain. Water is available May through October, and the park stays open for winter camping with vault facilities.
