Osborne Fire Lookout sits at 4,200 feet atop Mount Osborne, offering panoramic views across southern Oregon’s forested mountains. The restored 1934 structure still operates seasonally, and visitors can climb the tower when staff isn’t present. The surrounding area provides excellent dispersed camping opportunities among old-growth Douglas fir. Cell service is nonexistent, and the tower gets busy on summer weekends.
Access via Forest Road 2520 requires high-clearance vehicles for the final rocky miles. The lookout is typically staffed May through September, with the best visiting conditions from June to early October. No water available — pack everything you need for extended stays in this remote corner of the Siskiyous.
