Small pull-off along Blackwater River where the tannin-stained water runs clear and cold over smooth sandstone. Several flat spots for 2-3 vehicles to camp dispersed-style among the rhododendrons. Popular with kayakers putting in for downstream runs, but quiet most weekdays. Water requires treatment—the dark color is natural tannins, not pollution.
Located off Blackwater Canyon Road (County Route 27) about 8 miles from Davis. Rough gravel access road drops steeply to the river—high clearance helpful but not essential. Best spring through fall; winter access can be sketchy with ice.
