This 35-site campground sits among dramatic volcanic rock formations and twisted Joshua trees in the heart of Mojave National Preserve. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring, with vault toilets and potable water available. The campground serves as an excellent base camp for exploring Wild Horse Canyon Road, Mid Hills, and the backcountry loop trails in the area.
Sites are first-come, first-served and fill up on weekends during the cooler months. The campground sits at 4,400 feet elevation, making it significantly cooler than the lower desert areas. Road access is paved all the way in, and the nearby visitor center provides trail maps and area information.
