Sitting at 9,900 feet in Pike National Forest, this 49-site campground serves as a solid base camp for exploring the Leadville mining district and nearby high-country passes. Sites are scattered through mature spruce and fir, with vault toilets and fire rings but no water. Most sites handle RVs up to 40 feet, though the access road has some tight turns.
Located 5 miles southwest of Leadville on Forest Road 300, the campground operates on a first-come basis from late May through September. Nights get cold even in summer at this elevation. Popular with miners’ ghost town enthusiasts and those running Mosquito or Weston passes.
