Mojave National Preserve — Lanfair Valley BLM Dispersed Camp
Lanfair Valley sits in the broad basin east of the Providence Mountains and directly along the Mojave Road interior segment between Fort Piute and Government Holes. Flat, hardpan desert with scattered Joshua trees and creosote, this BLM land inside Mojave National Preserve allows dispersed camping up to 14 days. No facilities, no signage — just open desert. Nights are dead quiet out here. Can see the Providence and New York Mountain ranges on clear evenings. Campfire restrictions apply seasonally; check current BLM fire restrictions before you go.
Access is off the Mojave Road or Lanfair Road from Essex Road to the west or Goffs Road to the south. High-clearance 4WD recommended for the interior wash crossings. No water, no cell signal. Nearest fuel and resupply is Needles to the east or Baker to the west — both a solid haul. Come loaded for self-sufficiency.
