Cañon de Guadalupe — Sierra Juárez Hot Springs and Palm Canyon
Cañon de Guadalupe is the real deal: a narrow granite canyon carved into the western escarpment of the Sierra Juárez, lined with thousands of native Washingtonia palms and fed by natural hot springs that bubble up into rock pools. This place has been drawing overlanders, Baja regulars, and desert wanderers for decades — and for good reason. The springs run warm year-round, the canyon walls block the wind, and the star field overhead on a clear winter night is genuinely hard to beat. It sits roughly 30 miles south of La Rumorosa on an unmarked dirt road off Mex 2.
The access road is rough graded dirt — manageable in a high-clearance 2WD when dry, but gets slick in rain and the sandy wash crossings can catch you out. Best visited October through April; summer heat is brutal and the canyon can flash flood in late summer monsoon. Private ejido land manages access — expect a small fee at the gate. Reservations via phone or through local trip planners are common for weekends.
