Hardap Resort Campground — Hardap Dam NWR
Hardap Resort sits on the eastern shore of Hardap Dam, Namibia’s largest reservoir, inside the Hardap Game Reserve. NWR runs bungalows and a proper campground here with ablution blocks, power points, and braai stands. The dam attracts fish eagles and a surprising amount of game including rhino and kudu on the reserve side. It’s the last predictable fuel, water, and flush-toilet situation before the road west toward Maltahöhe and the Namib. Expect a mix of Namibian holiday families and overlanders staging up. Not remote, but solid infrastructure that matters when you’re about to cross serious desert.
Access from the B1 south of Rehoboth is tarred and straightforward — any vehicle handles it. Reserve ahead during Namibian school holidays in June–July and December. NWR bookings go through their central online system. Fuel at Mariental, 14 km southeast, before you push west.
Last real infrastructure before the Namib.
