Draa Valley — Agdz Palmery Road Southern Flats Dispersed Camp
South of Agdz on the N9 toward Zagora, the Draa River corridor opens up into wide, sandy flats flanked by dense palmery on one side and hammada stone desert on the other. Overlanders have been pulling off the piste tracks that branch west of the main road here for decades — flat ground, no fee, no facility, and a horizon full of kasbah ruins and date palm silhouettes. It’s the kind of camp that makes you stop mid-sentence and just stare. Watch your lines pulling in — soft sand pockets hide where you least expect them.
Access is via unsigned piste tracks off the N9, roughly 10–20 km south of Agdz. High-clearance is useful but most stock 4WD rigs handle it fine in dry season. No water, no toilets, no trash service — pack out everything. October through April is the window; summer heat is punishing and khamsin winds blow fine silt into everything. Ask locals before committing to a spot — some palmery edges are community agricultural land.
