Chingaza National Park High Route

The dirt track cutting through Chingaza’s páramo at 11,500 feet feels like driving across the roof of Colombia. This high-altitude route winds through the park’s core wilderness area, passing the massive Chuza Reservoir that supplies water to eight million Bogotanos. The track threads between ancient glacier-carved valleys where spectacled bears still roam, crossing countless streams fed by perpetual mist. Key waypoint is the Lagunas de Siecha, three sacred lakes where the Muisca people once made gold offerings to their gods.
