Trans Euro Trail Northern (TET-N) – Norway Section
Norway's ultimate overland challenge
The TET-N Norway section cuts a relentless path through some of Europe’s most unforgiving terrain, following centuries-old reindeer migration routes and abandoned mining tracks from the Swedish border near Røros to the Atlantic at Kristiansund. You’ll cross the Dovrefjell plateau where musk oxen still roam, navigate the technical rocky sections around Hjerkinn, and ford dozens of mountain streams that can turn deadly after spring melt or heavy rain.
This is serious backcountry requiring a fully-prepared expedition rig with underbody protection, recovery gear, and cold-weather kit even in summer. Weather changes fast above the tree line, and you’re often 100km from the nearest fuel. Best tackled June through September when most high passes are clear, though early season means muddy bog crossings that’ll test your diff locks. The payoff is pure Nordic wilderness few tourists ever see.
