Cusco to Puerto Maldonado Rainforest Route

This legendary overland route drops from Cusco’s 11,200-foot altitude straight into the Amazon basin, traversing every ecosystem Peru has to offer in 310 brutal miles. The journey crosses the notorious Abiseo Pass at 13,450 feet before plunging through cloud forest and coca-growing valleys into the lawless gold rush territory around Madre de Dios.
