Yamchun Fortress — Wakhan Valley MSDSP Guesthouse Camp

Yamchun is a real stop on the Tajik side of the Wakhan Corridor, sitting roughly midway between Langar and Ishkashim. The MSDSP (Mountain Societies Development Support Programme) network operates community guesthouses through the valley, and Yamchun is one of the better-documented nodes — basic beds, a courtyard you can pitch a tent or sleep your rig beside, simple meals by arrangement. The fort looms above on a basalt spur; the Bibi Fatima hot springs are a short drive east. Vibe is remote Central Asian village, not a campground — expect a host family, shared facilities, and no frills.

Access is via the main Wakhan road — rough dirt and river gravel throughout, 4WD mandatory. Cell service is effectively zero. Carry your own water treatment, fuel, and food for multiple days. Best season is June through September; the road can be impassable or heavily washed out outside those months. GBAO permit required in addition to a Tajikistan visa — sort both before you cross into Badakhshan.
