Williams Creek Campground — Gunnison National Forest

Williams Creek sits at the upper end of Williams Creek Reservoir about 20 miles southwest of Lake City on CO-149 and Cebolla Creek Road. You’re in a dense spruce-fir pocket at around 9,000 feet — cool nights even in July, good shade, and the sound of the creek keeping you honest. It’s a developed USFS camp with vault toilets, fire rings, and a handful of pull-through sites that’ll take a rig with a trailer without drama. Popular with families and horse campers on weekends, but weeknight crowds are manageable.

Access is straightforward — paved to the turnoff, then a short maintained gravel spur. Season typically runs late May through September depending on snowpack. No hookups or dump station. Cell service is essentially zero out here. Fire restrictions mirror the rest of Gunnison NF — check before you roll.
