Watson Mill Bridge State Park
The 229-foot covered bridge built in 1885 spans the South Fork Broad River at this peaceful state park east of Atlanta. Twenty-one campsites with water and electric hookups sit under mature hardwoods, with clean bathhouses and a camp store. The river offers swimming holes and canoeing, while hiking trails explore the surrounding woodlands. Rarely crowded except during peak summer weekends.
Located off Highway 22 between Comer and Carlton, it’s perfectly positioned for overlanders heading to north Georgia trails. The park roads are paved and suitable for any rig. Open year-round with occasional winter closures during ice storms.
