Stanislaus National Forest Kennedy Meadows Dispersed Area
Granite slabs and scattered pines create natural camping alcoves along Relief Creek and Kennedy Meadow Road. Sites offer mountain solitude with creek access and sweeping views toward Emigrant Wilderness peaks. Most spots accommodate 1-2 vehicles tucked between boulders or in small meadow clearings. Creek provides water source requiring treatment, while granite formations offer natural windbreaks and privacy.
Access via steep, winding Kennedy Meadow Road — high clearance recommended for final approach. Snow closes area October through May. Popular with PCT hikers and wilderness access, so expect company during summer months. No facilities beyond established fire rings at some sites.
