Snæfellsnes Peninsula Camping Area Grundarfjörður
This municipal campground sits in the shadow of Kirkjufell, Iceland’s most photographed mountain. Basic facilities include toilets, cold water taps, and electrical hookups. Sites are on grass with gravel access roads. Gets crowded during summer but offers excellent aurora viewing in winter months when most other camps close.
Open year-round with reduced services November through March. Walking distance to Grundarfjörður village for supplies. Can be windy — secure everything. No reservations needed but arrive early in summer. Popular with overlanders running Snæfellsnes Peninsula routes.
