Savute Safari Lodge Public Campground — Chobe National Park

This is the real deal — a DWNP-managed public campsite at Savute, inside Chobe National Park, sitting right on the margin of the Savute Marsh. Big skies, dry mopane woodland, and a waterhole that pulls elephant, buffalo, and predators year-round. Basic facilities: pit toilets and braai stands. No shade trees to speak of. Bring every drop of water you need and do not leave food unattended — the baboons and hyenas are experienced thieves. It fills fast in dry season (May–October) when game concentrates at the marsh.

Access is via the Mababe Gate approach on sand and calcrete two-track — 4WD with a snorkel is standard kit here. Reservations through Botswana’s Department of Wildlife and National Parks are mandatory and best sorted in Maun or Kasane before you arrive. Self-sufficient rigs only. Fuel up in Kasane or Maun; there is nothing at Savute.
