Savage River Road Dispersed Sites

Dispersed Camping

Multiple informal camping spots scattered along Savage River Road (NF-146) and connecting forest roads in Savage River State Forest. Most sites are simple pull-offs with established fire rings, some overlooking the Savage River or tucked back in mature oak and maple forest. Expect 4-8 vehicles capacity across all spots, with sites filling up on weekends during peak foliage season in October.

Access via gravel Savage River Road from Route 135. Road conditions vary from good gravel to rough dirt with some washouts after heavy rains. No facilities, pack out trash. Fire restrictions typically in effect July-September. Best spring through fall, winter access depends on snow clearing.
