Rio Grande Village Campground — Big Bend National Park
Rio Grande Village sits on the southeast edge of Big Bend, down on the river where the desert finally turns green. The NPS campground has tent and small-rig sites among cottonwoods, with drinking water, flush toilets, a dump station, and picnic tables. A separate concessionaire RV park next door has full hookups, and there’s a camp store with showers and laundry. It’s a base for Boquillas Canyon, the hot springs, and the Boquillas border crossing. The NPS loop takes reservations through Recreation.gov, and winter and spring weekends fill early.
Access is paved, so any vehicle works, though it’s a long haul from anywhere. The nearest real resupply is Marathon or Study Butte, so top off before you commit. Summers are brutal; October through April is the right window. Cell is spotty, and Mexican towers sometimes bleed over. Check current fees, closures, and river conditions with NPS. Have a dirty day.
