The only major medical facility between Bakersfield and Mammoth Lakes, this 86-bed hospital handles everything from altitude sickness to serious trauma. Located right off Highway 178 as you enter Ridgecrest from the south, it’s perfectly positioned for emergencies coming out of Death Valley, the Alabama Hills, or the Sierra Nevada backcountry. Full emergency department operates 24/7 with helicopter pad for serious cases.

Easy access from China Lake Boulevard with clear signage from all directions. The hospital also serves as an unofficial waypoint for overlanders — many use the parking area to reorganize gear or make phone calls before heading into cell-free zones. Staff are used to treating dehydration, heat exhaustion, and the occasional broken bone from off-road mishaps.
