Ramabanta Trading Post Lodge — Ha Ramabanta Village Campsite
Ramabanta Trading Post Lodge is a well-known overnight stop on the road between Maseru and Semonkong, sitting in the broad valley of Ha Ramabanta at around 1,700 metres. The campsite is within the lodge grounds — secure, with basic ablutions and access to the lodge restaurant and bar. It caters primarily to overland travellers, pony trekkers, and South African 4×4 groups doing the central highlands circuit. The vibe is low-key and friendly; the Basotho staff know the roads ahead and will give you straight talk on conditions rather than what you want to hear.
The access road from Maseru is a mix of tar and dirt — high-clearance 2WD manages it in dry conditions, but after summer rains the river crossings between here and Semonkong demand proper 4WD. This makes Ramabanta a logical last comfortable stop before committing to the rougher highland interior. Fuel is not reliably available here — top up in Maseru or Roma before departing.
Last easy stop before the highland deep.
