Poverty Point Reservoir State Park

Established Campground

This 2,700-acre state park wraps around Poverty Point Reservoir with developed campsites offering electric and water hookups. The park sits just minutes from Poverty Point National Monument, making it a solid base camp for exploring the ancient earthworks. Sites are mostly level with decent spacing, though summer can get swampy and buggy. The reservoir provides decent bass fishing and a boat launch.

Access is straightforward via paved roads from US-165. The park stays busy during hunting seasons and summer weekends. Restrooms and showers are clean, and there’s a dump station. Camp store has basic supplies but stock up in Monroe or Delhi for serious provisioning.
