Porcupine Hills BLM West Slope Dispersed Area
This exposed dispersed area sits on rolling grasslands about 15 miles southeast of Havre, offering big-sky camping with sweeping views west toward the Bears Paw Mountains. Sites are scattered across gentle slopes with native prairie grasses and scattered juniper. Wind is constant—secure everything twice. Fire restrictions often in effect May through September due to dry conditions.
Access via unmarked dirt roads from Highway 2—GPS essential as there’s minimal signage. Roads are passable for most vehicles in dry conditions but turn to gumbo when wet. Cell service is spotty. Popular with hunters in fall; otherwise sees light use.
