Peaceful Valley Campground
This 17-site USFS campground sits at 8,500 feet along the South St. Vrain Creek, offering a mix of sites suitable for tents and smaller RVs up to 32 feet. The sound of rushing water dominates the scene, and most sites are tucked into dense forest with good privacy. Sites have the standard fire rings and picnic tables, with vault toilets and hand-pump water scattered throughout.
Access is via Forest Road 96 (St. Vrain Canyon Road) from Lyons, a well-maintained dirt road suitable for any vehicle with reasonable clearance. The campground serves as a base camp for accessing multiple wilderness areas and 4WD trails. Open typically June through September, weather permitting. Gets busy on summer weekends but usually has availability midweek.
