Paria Canyon Wirepass Trailhead Dispersed Area
Scattered campsites dot the sagebrush flats around Wirepass Trailhead, the main access for Paria Canyon and Wave permits. Sandy soil makes for decent sleeping but can get soft in rain. No facilities whatsoever — pack everything in and out. Fire restrictions often in effect March through October. Gets busy during prime hiking season as folks stage here for multi-day canyon trips.
House Rock Valley Road requires high-clearance but most 2WD trucks handle it fine when dry. Turn washboardy after rain. No cell service. Popular with Wave lottery winners who camp here before dawn starts. Water sources are 40+ miles away — bring everything you need.
