Ouachita National Forest Caddo River Dispersed Sites
Scattered pullouts along Forest Road 73 offer intimate riverside camping beside the crystal-clear Caddo River. Sites range from single-vehicle spots tucked under hardwoods to larger clearings that can accommodate small groups. The river runs deep and cold here, with emerald pools perfect for swimming and some of Arkansas’s best smallmouth bass fishing. Most sites have established fire rings and level tent pads, though facilities are minimal.
Access requires navigating rough gravel and occasional creek crossings that can become impassable after heavy rains. Spring through fall offers the best conditions, though winter camping is possible for hardy souls. Sites fill quickly during float season (April-June) and hunting seasons.
