Ojos de Agua Natural Springs

Water Source

These natural springs bubble up from underground aquifers in the Sonoran Desert, creating a small oasis of palm trees and clear pools about 45 kilometers east of Hermosillo. The water runs year-round and is considered safe for drinking after filtration—locals have used it for generations. Multiple pools offer different flow rates, with the main spring producing several gallons per minute. Expect to see cattle and wildlife using the water, especially at dawn and dusk.

Access requires 12 kilometers of sandy two-track from the paved highway. Soft sand can trap 2WD vehicles, especially after recent rains. The spring area has been used as an informal camping spot, but it’s on private ranch land—be respectful and pack out all trash. Best to fill up and move on rather than stay overnight.
