Newton Hills offers 120 campsites spread across rolling oak-covered hills, making it one of the most developed state parks in eastern South Dakota. The park features both electric and non-electric sites with decent spacing, plus a trail system that winds through native prairie and hardwood forests. It’s popular with RV crowds on weekends but quieter midweek, with good facilities including showers and a dump station.
Located just 30 minutes south of Sioux Falls off I-29, it serves as an excellent staging area for overlanders heading west to the Black Hills. The park stays open year-round though water may be shut off in winter months. Reservations recommended during summer and fall color season.
