Naryn City Campground — Tian Shan Overland Basecamp

Naryn sits at around 7,200 ft in the Naryn River valley and is the last real town before the high-altitude grind to Torugart Pass and the Chinese border. The city campground — operated out of the CBT (Community Based Tourism) network and associated guesthouses — sits close to the river corridor and gives you a flat, grassy patch to sort gear, top off water, and get a proper meal before pushing into the void. It’s not fancy. Think shared toilets, maybe a cold shower on a good day, and a fire pit if you’re lucky. Gers (yurts) are sometimes available alongside tent spots.

Access is straightforward — Naryn is on the A367 highway and fuel is available in town. Cell signal is partial to full in the valley but disappears fast once you climb out.
