Moskenesøya — Kvalvika Beach Valley Floor Dispersed Camp
Kvalvika is a boulder-and-grass valley floor sitting behind one of Lofoten’s most raw beaches — grey sand, cold North Atlantic surf, and walls of quartzite rising straight out of the turf. Dispersed camping here is well-documented in Norwegian overland and hiking circles. You’re on unfenced land under the allemannsretten (right to roam), so camping is legal as long as you’re 150 metres from the nearest dwelling and you move on after two nights. Flat ground exists in the valley; expect wind, expect fog, expect company in July and August. No facilities whatsoever. Pack out everything.
Access is via a rough 4WD track off the E10 near Fredvang, followed by a short hike — the road to the trailhead sees high clearance rigs regularly. Season runs June through September; outside that window the track and the pass above Kvalvika can be slick with ice and snow. No cell signal in the valley.
Arctic surf beach, wild camp, zero frills.
