Monongahela National Forest Otter Creek Dispersed Area
Multiple primitive sites scattered along Otter Creek in what was once clear-cut timber land, now returning to wild forest. Level spots for 1-3 rigs each with creek access for water filtering and decent trout fishing. Fire rings at most established sites, but pack out all trash. The area feels remote despite being relatively accessible, with good hiking opportunities into the surrounding wilderness.
Forest road access can get muddy and rutted, especially after rain — 4WD recommended during wet periods. No facilities, spotty cell coverage. Busy during fall hunting season and summer weekends. Best April through October, though spring runoff can make creek crossings tricky.
