Manatee Springs State Park

First-magnitude spring where the Suwannee River meets crystal-clear water, with developed camping and manatee viewing.

Manatee Springs pumps out 117 million gallons daily of 72°F water into the dark tannic Suwannee River, creating a stunning contrast and Florida’s most reliable manatee viewing outside of Crystal River. The state park offers 94 campsites in a mixed pine-hardwood forest, with full hookups available and a swimming area at the spring head. The boardwalk extends over the spring run, providing excellent wildlife viewing opportunities including manatees, alligators, and wading birds.

Located just off US-19 near Chiefland, the park makes an excellent base camp for exploring the Lazy Springs trail system or the broader Nature Coast region. Peak manatee season runs November through March, but the springs offer year-round relief from Florida heat. Book ahead during winter months when manatee viewing is prime.
