Leech Lake Natural Spring
This natural artesian spring bubbles up from deep aquifers, producing crystal-clear water year-round. Local Ojibwe families have used this spring for generations, and it’s become a known stop for campers and overlanders exploring the Chippewa National Forest. The water stays cold even in summer heat, and the flow rate is strong enough to fill large containers quickly.
Located on tribal land off Highway 2 between Cass Lake and Walker. Look for the small gravel pullout and hand-carved wooden sign — easy to miss if you’re not watching for it. Respectful use is welcomed, but this is reservation land so treat it accordingly.
