Woodtick Recreation Area
Woodtick sits on a quiet bay of Kabetogama Lake, offering primitive lakefront camping with vault toilets and fire rings but no drinking water. The gravel sites are well-spaced among jack pines, giving each spot privacy and direct lake access. Motorboats launch here for Voyageurs backcountry, and the fishing for walleye and northern pike is solid. Expect busy weekends in summer but midweek solitude.
Access is via County Road 122 from Ash River — about 8 miles of good gravel that any vehicle can handle. The campground operates May through September, and sites are first-come, first-served. Bring your own water and be ready for mosquitoes in June and July.
