Laguna de Yuriria Waterfront Dispersed Camping
Mexico’s second-largest natural lake offers scattered camping spots along dirt access roads on the eastern shore. Level ground under mesquite trees with direct lake access for swimming and fishing. Weekends can get busy with local families, but weekday camping is peaceful with excellent birding opportunities — over 200 species recorded here.
Access via gravel roads from Highway 90, passable by any vehicle in dry conditions but can get muddy after rain. No facilities, so pack out all trash. The lake level varies seasonally, with the best camping conditions from October through May when water levels are stable.
