Laguna de Pozuelos Reserve Campground

Established Campground

This remote reserve campground sits at the edge of Laguna de Pozuelos at 3,500 meters elevation, offering basic facilities for overlanders exploring Argentina’s high-altitude wetlands. The site provides pit toilets, picnic tables, and designated fire rings, with space for about 8 vehicles. Nights are brutally cold even in summer — temperatures drop below freezing year-round.

Access via unmarked dirt roads requires high-clearance 4WD and careful navigation. The reserve is managed by the Jujuy provincial government, and camping is technically free but registration at the visitor center is required. Best visited April through September when roads are most reliable and wildlife viewing is optimal.
