Kluane National Park — Tachal Dhal (Sheep Mountain) Visitor Kiosk
Sitting at the north end of Kluane Lake on the Alaska Highway, the Tachal Dhal kiosk marks the entry point into one of Canada’s most remote national parks. From this pullout you can glass the mountain slopes above for Dall sheep — this is one of the best accessible viewpoints in the park for wildlife watching. The kiosk has interpretive panels, a pit toilet, and seasonal Parks Canada staff who can update you on trail conditions, bear activity, and any closures on the Slims River West Bench Road nearby. This is also a standard first stop for anyone running the Haines Junction to Kluane Lake route.
The Alaska Highway runs right past it — paved access, any rig can get here. But once you leave the pavement toward Kluane’s backcountry, it’s a different world. Fill your water and get your information here before heading into the bush.
Last intel stop before Kluane's backcountry.
