Kleena Kleene — Chilcotin River Bridge Viewpoint
Kleena Kleene is a small ranching community at roughly the halfway point on Highway 20 between Williams Lake and Bella Coola, sitting where the Chilcotin River swings close to the road. The bridge here is a notable geographic landmark in an otherwise wide-open plateau landscape — big sky, dry ponderosa benchlands giving way to river cottonwoods, and views that remind you exactly how remote the Chilcotin is. It’s a natural stretch-your-legs stop on the long pull west toward Anahim Lake and the Tweedsmuir South boundary.
There’s no fuel here and no services to speak of — Tatla Lake to the east has a small store and seasonal fuel. Alexis Creek to the east or Anahim Lake to the west are your real resupply options. Road surface on Hwy 20 through here is paved but patchy; expect frost heaves and gravel shoulders. Cell signal is effectively zero.
Halfway across the Chilcotin — big sky, no signal.
