Tucked into a rocky bowl surrounded by massive granite formations, Indian Cove offers 101 sites that fill up fast during peak season. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring, but no water or hookups. The Wonderland of Rocks looms overhead, making this a favorite base camp for climbers. Desert nights here are dead quiet except for the occasional coyote chorus.
Access is via Indian Cove Road off Highway 62, about 10 miles from Twentynine Palms. The campground stays open year-round but can get brutally hot in summer. Reservations are essential October through May. No cell service once you’re in the bowl.
